Sunnie Bell in "Just -A- Jest"

“Sunnie Bell in Just-A-Jest” is a side scrolling platformer filled with cartoony characters, silly sight gags, and a retro-inspired style that harkens back to the 8-bit days of gaming.
After Sunnie’s family circus is left in shambles by the devious Pippi Shortfuse, Sunnie sets off across the platforming and puzzle-based first level to defeat the Clown of Cuteness in this demo/proof of concept. Help Sunnie jump, run, and hammer her way to victory!

"Just -A- Jest" is a proof of concept/ demo of a game that I want to make. It's an amalgamation of what I've learned as a game dev. It's made up of a single level and a boss battle! It should average to about 10 minutes of game play.
Controls:
I recommend using a gamepad, the game was design with a controller in mind, however the keyboard controls are:
- Movement: W.A.S.D
- Jump: Space Bar
- Interact/Mallet: E
- Run: Shift
- Dab: R
- Pause/Start: Enter
Feedback:
I would love to hear constructive criticism, I've created a review form that you can find here.
Credits:
The game was mostly a solo-dev experience with the following credits:
- Music and Sound Design was by the talented Max Repka.
- Large 2D Artwork and main cast avatar concept art by Cécilia "Calis" Goncalves.
- Additional Writing by David Hurley.
- Playtesting by David Wentworth, Dokugami, DusterTheDevious, Li Cross, Matt Myers, and Ricky Bieniek,
- Dialogue Manager Plug-in developed by Nathan Hoad.
- Special Thanks to Aleksandr 'Crystalwarrior' Varnavskii for helping me with getting the game to export when there was problematic code preventing it.
This is more of a disclaimer, but I did use Phind during various stages of the game development to help me when I couldn't figure out GDScript. All my future projects will not feature its use in any way.

I apologize if it sets off your anti-virus, I do not know how to disable that.

When playing the browser version and finishing the game if you try to go back it sends you to the last checkpoint instead of resetting at least for me.
EDIT: Its a known bug, the demo will be updated Saturday with a few bug fixes! This one I just figured out what to do about it!
Some of the balloon-to-balloon jumps were a bit pixel-perfect tricky for my liking, but I mostly really enjoyed this!
Love it! It kind of feels like Shovel Knight, it actually plays and looks like a real retro game, not just a modern one with a "pixelated" filter slapped on. The designs are great, the setting is funny and colorful, and overall it looks amazing.
Only small gripe: the movement sometimes feels a bit slow. Maybe that’s just because it reminds me of Wario Land, which is much faster. But yeah, sometimes it feels like the floor is fighting Sunnie a bit.
but this is an incredible work for a solo Dev!
I answered the form, it's a good proof of concept! Just wanted to point out that I died against Pippi when she sent me into the brambles with the "wind", the screen turned black... and never faded back in. I could hear her throwing attacks then, but I'm not even sure she was hitting me?
Also a minor thing but pausing during the boss fights doesn't stop the boss music, so you hear both tracks at the same time.
Anyway, hope to see more of this in the future, keep it up! :)
Thank you for the feedback!
I'll do my best to address these issues this weekend when I have time.
I'm sorry that happened and I'm glad you were able to enjoy the experience despite my limited experience game deving.
When I downloaded the game to my Windows PC and tried running it I got this error message: "The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing: Cross Origin Isolation - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)"
That's odd, hadn't run into this issue before, I'll look into it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
